FEBS YTF Awards
A limited number of FEBS Youth Travel Funds (YTF) Awards is available to support participation of young scientists from the FEBS area in this event. FEBS YTF Award (714 euros) will partially cover the registration fee (including costs of event meals, and shared accommodation in a four-bed apartment). The rest of the registration fee (186 euros) will be paid by the awardee. Travel costs are not covered by YTF award.
Additionally, one transcontinental YTF award (2000 USD) is offered as a result of support from IUBMB for participation of young scientist from outside the FEBS area in this event. Transcontinental YTF award will fully cover the registration fee including costs of event meals, and shared accommodation in a four-bed apartment. The rest of the award will be used to fully or partially cover the travel costs.
The selection of applicants to receive FEBS YTF awards and transcontinental YTF award will be carried out by the Meeting Organizers on the basis of CVs, motivation letters and submitted abstracts, but representation of different topics at the event, and career stage, geographical distribution, gender balance may also be taken into consideration. The selection will be approved by the FEBS Treasury Office according to the FEBS YTF eligibility criteria (also shown below).
The deadline for applications to the FEBS YTF awards and transcontinental YTF award is April 1st, 2025.
Abstract submission is mandatory for application for YTF award. Applicant must be the first author of the abstract.
Applicants selected by the Meeting Organizers will be notified during May.
Eligibility criteria for applicants travelling from the FEBS area of Europe and neighbouring regions:

The applicant should be not older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society;

The applicant must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society and provide a valid certificate of membership (for FEBS Constituent Societies, see the Our Members section of the FEBS website);

The applicant should not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend a FEBS Course / Workshop in the current year or previous year, nor a Bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum in the current year;

The applicant cannot be a resident of the country hosting the event;

Young scientists from the Organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for FEBS YTF awards.
For applicants travelling from outside the FEBS area:
One transcontinental YTF award is offered as a result of support from IUBMB for participation of scientists from outside the FEBS area in this event. For eligibility crtieria, please find the guidelines here on the FEBS website (also shown below).

The applicant should not be older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society, or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society;

The applicant must be a member of an IUBMB-related society and must provide a valid certificate of membership;

The applicant should not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend a FEBS Course / Workshop in the current year or previous year, nor a Bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum in the current year;

Awards will only be made to support travel from the applicant’s current country of residence to the country hosting the FEBS event;

Young scientists from the Organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for transcontinental YTF award.
How to apply for FEBS YTF or transcontinental YTF award:
Application to FEBS YTF awards and transcontinental YTF award should be made through the registration system (please see instructions here) accompained by the documents listed below. Please do not forget to (a) include proof of your society membership in the file you upload with supporting documents, and (b) click Yes to apply for a congress bursary or for a travel award (in the section Registrant information).
During registration process, upload a single PDF file containing all supporting documents for your application (presented in the following order):
- motivation letter (max 300 words)
- concise CV (max 2 pages)
- name and address of your lab head/supervisor and letter of recommendation
- valid certificate of your Constituent Society membership (scanned copy of current membership certificate/letter, dated in year 2025)
- proof of age (scan of ID)
- proof of status: PhD student (letter confirming PhD student status from the institution where doctoral studies are taking place) or postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis (proof of qualification, for example scan of PhD diploma in English language)
- abstract (enclose your abstract as first author, prepare abstract according to the guidelines on the Abstracts section of the website).
AARS Bursaries
To all young scientists that do not fit into above mentioned categories and to the ones that applied to FEBS YTF and trans-YTF travel grants but were not selected due to a limiting number of YTF grants, a number of AARS Bursaries will be available to support participation in this event. AARS bursary will fully cover the registration fee including costs of event meals, and shared accommodation in a four-bed apartment. Travel costs are not covered by AARS bursary. The selection of applicants to receive AARS bursary will be carried out by the Meeting Organizers on the basis of CVs, motivation letters and submitted abstracts, but representation of different topics at the event, and career stage, geographical distribution, gender balance may also be taken into consideration. Eligibility criteria are shown below.

IMPORTANT: Applicants that were not selected for FEBS YTF and trans-YTF grants will be automatically taken into consideration for AARS bursaries. There is no need to apply for AARS bursaries if you have submitted your application for FEBS YTF and trans-YTF awards.
