Programme features
We plan an exciting program that will cover groundbreaking findings in AARS research and relate that research with emerging topics in gene expression, protein world and human health. The program sessions will follow four major themes related to AARS: i) Biochemistry, Biology, tRNA and Evolution, ii) Technology, iii) Quality Control, Physiology and Synthetic Biology and iv) Health.
The meeting is structured to encourage informal scientific discussions through joint lunches, coffee breaks, a conference dinner and an excursion. There will be plenty of time and opportunity for gathering and collaborative dialogues.
Lectures/talks
The program will include five keynote lectures given by exceptional scientists working in the field of gene expression, but not directly on AARSs, opening and closing lecture, and invited talks. A number of oral presentations (talks) will be selected from the submitted abstracts.
Patient-oriented session
This half-day session will include a series of scientific presentations followed by a round table discussion among basic scientists, clinicians, the biotech industry, and patients suffering from AARS-related disorders, along with their families. At the end of the session, face-to-face interviews between basic scientists and clinicians on one side, and industry and patient representatives on the other will be organized. During the Patients meet the experts lunch, patients will sit nearby the experts for further discussions. For more details see the Patient-oriented session page.
Posters and speed talks
Posters will be displayed throughout the meeting. Two poster sessions will be organized for discussions, each consisting of morning and evening part. During the evening poster sessions cheese and wine will be served to promote the informal character of the session and open scientific discussions. Before each session the related poster speed talks will be given (twenty-four in total).
Career progression lunch
To promote the career planning of younger investigators, younger scientists will be intentionally seated with senior scientists for discussions of career plans and options during the career progression lunch.
